Why do I see a message in Safari about the permissions of the Push browser extension?

Safari requires that users re-enable browser extensions if an extension has been updated to use new permissions that are different from those it had when it was first installed.

This can happen occasionally with the Push browser extension if Push releases new product features that require new permissions.

If you need to re-enable the Push browser extension in Safari, you will see a pop-up message in your browser that says, “Push Security has been updated and is requesting new permissions. To protect your privacy, this extension has been turned off.”

Safari browser extension disabled pop-up - KB 10111

From the pop-up message, select Open Settings and check the box next to the Push extension to re-enable the extension.

You can also re-enable the extension by going to Safari > Settings (or Preferences). Then select Extensions and check the box next to the Push extension to re-enable it.
